Changes to the Highway Code to benefit horse riders

 In News Feed

At the end of January, the Highway Code is being updated to improve the safety of horse riders, cyclists and pedestrians on the roads. The new rules establish a hierarchy of road users where the most likely to be injured in a collision is at the top of the hierarchy. Drivers will now lawfully need to look out for those at risk on UK roads, such as horse riders, cyclists, pedestrians and motorcyclists.

The changes to the Highway Code will target how drivers pass horse riders and handle turning at junctions when they meet horse riders.
