Do you know what to do if you suspect someone has concussion?
In April, the BHA shared with trainers the government’s newly launched UK Concussion Guidelines which aim to help better identify, manage and prevent concussion.
The guidelines have been developed by leading medical professionals, including the BHA’s Chief Medical Adviser, Dr Jerry Hill, and provide useful information about spotting signs of concussion and what to do if someone is concussed – for example, in a training yard or on the gallops.
British racing already has comprehensive concussion protocols in place for jockeys and riders licenced by the BHA (amateurs and professionals), but this guidance is really useful if you need advice whilst at work or home.
